New Nottingham theatre bar opens its doors

Nottingham’s Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall previewed its new bar, Yarn, last night (Thursday 9 November).

Formerly the Green Room, Yarn is the new ground floor bar and restaurant in the Theatre Royal. The new bar and restaurant, to be open throughout the day, is one of the key components of the venue’s £3.3m Royal Transformation Project which has been taking place over the summer.

Operated as a joint venture by Nottingham’s Castle Rock Brewery and Leeds-based CGC Event Caterers, Yarn will be managed by Damian Brandon, formerly of the Stratford Haven in West Bridgford. Head chef is Jamie Chambers with Charlie Blomeley becoming head of food and beverage operation for the wider joint venture project.

Yarn, on the ground floor of the Theatre Royal, promises casual dining as well as a much greater selection of beers and wines with the extended upstairs Dress Circle Restaurant offering a “leisurely but sophisticated” pre-show dining experience.

The roof terrace will soon be back in use under the new canopy which will light up in the evening and give weather-proof views across the city.
