East Midlands mechanical and electrical engineering firm Built Environment Consulting (BEC) has opened second office in Nottingham.

The Castle Donington-based firm has bought a 1,400 sq ft office space on Kayes Walk in the city.

BEC delivers projects across a range of sectors including sport and leisure, hotel and education, and provides leading sustainable solutions for the built environment.

The new office, which seats 18, will see the BEC team grow from 23 to 30 over the next three years. Director Matthew Faulkner has been responsible for the delivery of the Nottingham office and will continue to head up the firm’s new base.

Faulkner said: “After months of planning and preparation we’re very excited to have now moved into our new office. This new space means we can expand our services and portfolio and it will allow us to be closer to our Nottingham-based clients so we can continue to offer a first-class service.

“I am responsible for the ongoing recruitment of staff in the city and it’s fantastic to be able to offer more jobs for the local community, and we’re looking forward to welcoming more people to our progressive and dynamic team.

“This is an exciting time for BEC and I’m looking forward to building our profile in the city and the wider East and West Midlands.”

Director Carl Ackers, who joined the firm in 2013, said: “It brings me great pride to see BEC go from strength to strength and to be experiencing rapid growth. Our new Nottingham office is in the perfect location and has a large floor space which can accommodate more staff going forward.

“I’d like to thank the passionate team at BEC and our clients for their continued support which has helped make our expansion plans possible. I believe Matthew and the Nottingham team will make a great impact on this city and across the region which we are already very active in. I wish them the best of luck in the new office.”
