A Leicestershire-based lighting and heating retailer and wholesaler has bought a new warehouse and distribution centre, with the support of Barclays.

Mirrorstone Lighting, which is owned by brothers Amit and Prashant Soni, has purchased the 10,000 sq ft building which is located on Lewisher Road in Leicester.

The company was established in 2011, following Prashant’s struggle to find suitable LED lights for his aquarium. The brothers began researching online and soon identified a lack of products in the market.

The business has since expanded into infrared heating products, which work with smart technology – once again identified when the siblings scoured the internet for a cost-effective way to heat their commercial premises.

The company primarily supplies to the trade market, including plumbers’ merchants, electrical wholesalers and property developers, as well as to the public via its website.

Today, the business offers a huge range of over 1,500 products and employs 25 members of staff – a figure that’s set to increase with the development of the new warehouse.

Company director Amit Soni said: “The rapid growth of our business has resulted in us outgrowing our premises so, when the opportunity arose to purchase the new site, we knew we had to act quickly as commercial property is currently at a premium in Leicester.”

Muki Rahman, relationship director at Barclays said: “Mirrorstone Lighting has seen rapid growth since its inception in 2011, and has enjoyed year-on-year growth. The new site offers the business a great platform on which to grow further.”

The business was visited by Barclays area business manager in Leicestershire, Amit Sonpal who said: “We are seeing some great success stories across Leicestershire, where business owners are really seeking out new opportunities for their business. Mirrorstone is a great example of two businessmen who found an opening in the market, have built on that and have continued to develop new markets for their business.”
