Fourth student block planned for Derby city centre street

The previous scheme was thrown out by planners

Plans to build a fourth student accommodation block on a Derby city centre street have been revealed.

Godwin Development has lodged plans with Derby City Council by Godwin Developments to build and eight-storey scheme in Agard Street, which has already seen plans for three more student schemes.

Godwin’s plans include building the student digs on a site currently used as a car park, between Northgate House and the Derby Chiropractic Clinic.

It would include 77 apartments, 47 of which would be one-bedroom, with the remaining 30 having two bedrooms, as well as 22 parking spaces.

In a planning statement, RG+P, agent for Godwin, it said: “The proposed residential use is in keeping with this location.

“The proposed appearance is of a high quality and is set to enhance Agard Street and contribute to the regeneration of the city centre.”
