On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Jamie Goldberg, Debra Martin, Peter Seary

Law firm Geldards has appiointed two new partners to its corporate and commercial department.

Jamie Goldberg has joined the firm’s Derby office as a commercial partner, having previously been a partner at a London-based sport, media and entertainment specialist law firm, Onside Law.

Peter Seary has joined the Nottingham office as a corporate partner. His previous experience includes being a corporate partner at Shoosmiths in Nottingham where for several years he was head of the Midlands-based corporate and commercial team, and corporate partner and co-head of the food sector at Roythornes. Seary will lead Geldards’ food sector team.

Debra Martin, partner and head of the team, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jamie and Peter to Geldards, they are fantastic lawyers with experience and expertise that will enhance both the team and the wider firm.

Michael Walker

Civil and electrical engineering firm McCann, has strengthened the lighting arm of the business with the appointment of experienced lighting design specialist, Michael Walker to the role of design and technical manager.

Walker has joined Nottingham-based McCann from WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff, where he was principal engineer/team leader.

He joins McCann with 30 years’ experience behind him in electrical engineering – with 20 of those specifically in the street lighting industry.

Walker said: “Being given the opportunity to work for such a forward-thinking company as McCann is an exciting prospect and I am looking forward to helping the business continue its growth within the lighting sector.”

Managing director John McCann, said: “We are looking to Michael to lead the professional/technical services arm of the business – seeking out new opportunities in order to continue our growth in the lighting sector.”

“Adding Michael to the team means that we can now offer more services in the design, supply and installation of lighting – as well as providing comprehensive technical assistance when required – giving us another dimension and making us a ‘one-stop shop’ for all lighting requirements.”
