Menswear brand Remus Uomo has chosen Nottingham as the company’s first standalone store in England, following a deal overseen by commercial property agency Innes England.

The brand – which has five other standalone stores in Glasgow, Belfast, Ballymena, Galway and Dublin – has let over 800 sq ft of retail space on the ground floor at 32 Bridlesmith Gate, in Nottingham city centre.

Six permanent jobs, along with seasonal and temporary positions through the year, have been created as a result of the new store, which opened on 17 November.

Donald Finlay, director at Remus Uomo, said: “This store in Nottingham’s premier retail street will showcase the collection to its fullest potential. The store is carefully designed to match the brand ethos of understated sophistication and we’re excited to be bringing our trademark design-led, quality menswear to the streets of Nottingham.”

Remus Uomo was established in 1991 and has grown to become one of the UK and Ireland’s most popular menswear brands in the independent fashion retail sector.

Scott Crowson, franchisee for Remus Uomo Nottingham, added: “Remus Uomo will be perfect for Nottingham men with a serious attitude to fashion. They will love the sharp, formal tailoring and off-duty casuals in each collection.

“The brand has been making waves with fashion editors at leading publications such as GQ, Esquire and Fashionbeans, and is considered one of the UK’s most sought-after menswear labels, so we’re certain it will be a fantastic addition to the city’s shopping district.”

Bridlesmith Gate is already home to upmarket fashion brands such as Ted Baker, Hugo Boss and Cath Kidston.

Ben Taylor, director at Innes England, managed the letting. He said: “Bridlesmith Gate still remains in demand for premium fashion and lifestyle brands and the arrival of Remus Uomo cements the area’s continued appeal to retailers.

“There have been a number of significant deals in the last 12 months, such as Pretty Green’s relocation to Bridlesmith Gate and Joules and Fat Face upsizing due to the success of the stores in this location.

“Nottingham has a great reputation for premium brands and I’m sure people will respond well to Remus Uomo’s mix of formal, casual and smart casual fashion. Bridlesmith Gate is a beautiful area in the city and the other retail offerings will complement Remus Uomo.”
