Take a look inside Nottingham’s latest hairdressing salon

DNA Art Space – the hairdressing salon and creative hub – is the latest addition to Nottingham’s thriving independent scene this November, following a deal overseen by Innes England.

The new city centre salon on 12a King Street is the brainchild of award-winning entrepreneurs Angelo Vallillo and Dale Herne who are aiming to revitalise hairdressing in the city.

Trading over two floors and spanning 2,500 sq ft, the space has been transformed from a former bridal shop into a space where up-and-coming hairdressers are encouraged grow their careers.

Angelo and Dale both have more than 15 years’ experience in the hairdressing sector. Angelo hails from Nottingham having worked at the city’s well renowned Zullo & Holland, while Dale boasts an international hairdressing portfolio and has relocated from London.

Angelo said: “Dale and I have created DNA Art Space in a bid to change how hairdressing is approached as a career and experience. We want DNA to be a salon where our customers and stylists feel comfortable – as some salons can seem unwelcoming, we want DNA to be a place for anyone. We hope DNA can act as a hub for Nottingham’s creatives and a place where ambitious hairdressers will be encouraged to take their careers to the next level.

“We really want to get young people excited about the possibilities open to them in the sector. We have completely transformed our new space just off the Market Square and can’t wait to showcase the look and feel of DNA Art Space to local people!”

Both hairdressers have been involved in London, New York and Paris Fashion Weeks and have won a number of prestigious awards. Angelo is the first British hairdresser to join the International Art Team of Sebastian, one of the world’s biggest hair product manufacturers.

Director at Innes England Ben Taylor managed the deal on behalf of his client Azzurri Group, he said: “There has been a huge shift in Nottingham’s retail scene, with more experience-led offerings appearing on the high street. DNA Art Space is a great addition to the broad range of businesses located in the city centre, and we are sure the new salon will thrive.

“DNA is really well placed on King Street just off the Market Square. We are really pleased to have been part of this venture and wish Angelo and Dale all the best for the future.”

DNA Art Space is currently looking for talented staff in the city, from receptionists through to stylists.
