Derbyshire logistics firm to create 30 jobs with 30,000 sq ft expansion

The new site under construction

Up to 30 jobs could be created at a Derbyshire logistics firm after it announced it was adding 30,000 sq ft of space to its ecommerce fulfilment site in Codnor.

The news comes just months after Silver X Logistics moved its warehousing facilities to a new 20,000 sq ft warehouse in Riddings.

The firm is run by Gavin Burgess, who has a successful track record in building up logistics firms. In 2006, he started Burgess Logistics (UK) which he grew to a £3m business before merging it with another company. He withdrew from that venture in 2013 after taking it to around the £10m turnover mark boasting 150 staff.

He told TheBusinessDesk.com: “In 2017 Silver X has created over 50 new jobs and is looking to expand on that in 2018.

“The new site will help us achieve this growth and assist our clients with a fit for purpose distribution centre.

“We have gone from 25–80 staff in the last 8 months so I’d be looking at creating a further 20-30 job with the extra space in Codnor.”

The firm currently has revenues of around £4.5m annually.
