Planning permission granted for 25 new homes in Leicestershire village

Planning permission has been granted for the construction of 25 new homes on a plot of land in the village of South Kilworth near Lutterworth.

The site is located off North Road on the approach into the village from neighbouring North Kilworth.

The development is part of Harborough District Council’s Local Plan which has identified a minimum requirement for the construction of 20 houses in the village during the plan period, which runs until 2031. Currently around 450 people live in South Kilworth.

Stephen Mair, director of planning and development at Andrew Granger & Co, which acting as agent for the sale of the land, said: “We reviewed Harborough District Council’s strategy for the delivery of new homes in the district which enabled us to identify the site’s potential. The location is ideal for the construction of a small development of houses. The plans are sympathetic to the surroundings and the character of the village and include a communal green space at the centre. It’s important to ensure that these developments complement and enhance their environment, not detract from it.”

He added: “By assembling a comprehensive team of specialists, we were able to review the site’s constraints and opportunities. We managed the application process, including preparing and submitting the application to Harborough District Council and followed it through the determination process to obtaining approval at Planning Committee.

“We were delighted that there was no technical opposition to the proposals – and only one letter of objection, which is extremely low when dealing with planning applications.”
