On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

The Potter Clarkson team

The trade mark team at intellectual property firm, Potter Clarkson, has added five newly-qualified individuals, following a year of record growth for the team and for the firm.

Harrison Lee, who joined the team in 2015, has qualified as a UK chartered trade mark attorney, while Sobia Ramzan, Sue Faulconbridge and Wendy Brooks have qualified as CITMA paralegals, further enhancing the team’s expertise.

This follows a “stellar” year for the firm’s trade mark credentials, with a successful outcome delivered for all inter-partes cases heard before the UKIPO, the Appointed Person and the High Court during 2017 – including protecting the rights of the trade mark-owning companies of the estates of Elvis Presley and the late rock star, Prince.

Managing partner and chairman Colin Baker, said: “This has been a record year for the trade mark team in terms of growth, with an increasing client portfolio across all sectors and an upturn in cases, in which the team has enjoyed a winning streak across the board.

“We are proud of our first-class trade mark offering, which is evidenced in the quality of work being delivered for leading brands, as well as the multiple plaudits the team has received during the past year. This additional expertise brings further strength and capacity to the trade mark team for the benefit of our clients and we are delighted to support our people in developing their careers at Potter Clarkson.”

Tracy Chambers

Develop Training has appointed a new business development manager.

Tracy Chambers joins the firm, continuing a long career in business development and account management, predominantly in the training sector.

“Training is what I’m passionate about,” said Chambers. “I have worked in other sectors, but it’s not the same. My knowledge base is all around training and, more importantly, I believe in it – which is really important for me to be able to do this job well.

“There is a massive skills shortage in this industry, so investing in training is absolutely crucial for firms operating in the sector.

“There’s no hard sell required here. It’s about building relationships with clients, helping them to understand the importance and value of training and supporting them to achieve their vision to have a competent and skilled workforce.

“We’re helping to ensure our customers in the utilities sector are compliant and working towards national standards. That’s something I’m really proud to be involved in.”
