Leicester packaging boss passes away unexpectedly

Edward Wheeler, the joint managing director of Leicester-based packaging firm Marpak, has died.

Wheeler passed away unexpectedly on 31 December 2017.

Chris Goodayle, Marpak director of operations, said: “We are deeply shocked and saddened by this terrible news. The thoughts of everyone at Marpak are with Ed’s family and friends, and we extend our deepest sympathies to them.

“Marpak is a wonderful family business and it has been a great privilege to know Ed personally and to work with him. He was such a kind human being and was highly respected for his warm and considerate style that has helped build Marpak into such a strong business.

“Ed’s brother and joint managing director, Matt Wheeler, is understandably in a state of shock, but he knows it would be Edward’s wish to build and strengthen the legacy that he helped create here at Marpak over the last 20 years. Despite the emotional difficulties he and the family face over the coming weeks, Matt is determined to continue and grow the business in Ed’s honour.”

Joint managing directors, Edward and Matthew Wheeler took over the Marpak business in 1998. Since then the business has grown to include a workforce of 30 people with a multi-million pound turnover.
