Packaging firm to create jobs after relocation
An East Midlands provider of specialist carton finishing solutions is set to expand after relocating to a purpose-designed unit which is more than triple the size of its existing plant.
FC Cartons has taken a 10-year lease on the premises at Langham Park Industrial Estate in Castle Donington and says it expects to create a “significant number” of additional jobs over the next five years.
Debra Woodyatt, co-owner of FC Cartons, said: “We will be making an investment in our new property, changing it from a warehouse shell into an efficient production facility which will meet the needs of our required hygiene standards and preserves our existing accreditation.
“Our new unit allows us to site all our facilities under one roof and the move is as much about current efficiencies as it is about future proofing. Job creation and succession planning are critical to our growth and the extra space gives us the opportunity to create a significant number of additional jobs over the next five years.”
Debra and her husband David, who have more than 57 years’ combined experience in the packaging industry, established FC Cartons in 2003 after identifying a gap in the market for their specialist services.
Their business now employs more than 40 people.
Mary Gharmount, associate and commercial property solicitor at Nelsons, who advised FC Cartons on the deal, said: “There were challenges relating to works that needed to be done to the property before FC Cartons could relocate. The landlord agreed to put right £30,000 worth of work in the first three months of the lease so that our client did not take on the burden and cost of these works.
“We’re really pleased to assist FC Cartons with its latest expansion plans.”
Debra Woodyatt added: “We have a long-standing relationship with Nelsons; this is now the second property deal they have successfully completed on our behalf, and it’s worked well for us. I’ve been impressed by the efficiency of the Nelsons commercial property team in ensuring completion deadlines were met. Nelsons’ location was convenient for us too and saved valuable travel time.”
