New investment in Derby at ‘tipping point’

Derby is at “tipping point” in terms of new investment – that’s according to Marketing Derby’s managing director John Forkin.

Speaking in front of 500 guests at Marketing Derby’s Annual Business Event at Derby Theatre, Forkin utlined a series of investments that are imminent, including the arrival of retail giant TK Maxx in the St Peters Quarter and new student residential schemes in the Cathedral Quarter, as well as many other schemes in the pipeline.

“We have the profile, we have the investors, now as a city we need to deliver. We are at a tipping point in investment,” said Forkin.

Describing the company’s Bondholders as “magnificent”, Forkin also announced new starter Code 56 as the Bondholder Rising Star for 2018 and committed the company to continued working with partners across the Midlands Engine.

The ABE also had keynote speeches from David Boutcher, Chair of the London Chapter of Derby Ambassadors and adventurer Leigh Timmis, who announced a new World Record attempt cycling across Europe this summer.
