Plans for huge East Midlands mixed-use site revealed

Plans to create new homes and employment space at a new development in Northamptonshire are to be submitted later this year by developers.

Gallagher Estates is working jointly with specialist housebuilder Davidsons Homes, on land north of Overstone Green. The plans would bring forward around 1,500 homes and provide up to eight hectares of land for employment purposes.

The partners are expected to submit an outline planning application for the development which is part of the Northampton North Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE) later this year, with the site having been allocated in the West Northamptonshire Joint Core Strategy Local Plan in 2014.

Overstone Green is part of an overall site which has been allocated for 3,500 new homes, ten hectares of employment land as well as a new primary school, a convenience store, health care facilities, a community centre, sport and leisure facilities and improvements to the transport and road infrastructure.

Adrian Clack, group land director at Gallagher Estates, said the plans would provide a major boost to housing delivery in this area of Northampton.

“It is early days but we are confident we are reaching a stage where plans will be submitted for outline planning permission towards the end of 2018 to create a development which will lead to a thriving new community.”
