Future of more East Midlands restaurants in doubt

Another restaurant operator has reported tough trading conditions throwing the future of several East Midlands venues into doubt.

The Restaurant Group, which owns Frankie & Benny’s, Joe’s Kitchen, Coast to Coast and Chiquito, says it is looking at selling off some of its prime sites while “exploring options” for other brands in its estate, according to reports in the Nottingham Post.

Industry insiders believe that the firm’s full year revenues will by around £40m this year, while pre-tax profits are set to fall £20m to £57m.

The latest trading update from The Restaurant Group saw revenues fall 3% during 2017.

The news comes just days after Prezzo announced it was closing many of its East Midlands restaurants.
