Apartment plans for Grade II listed Nottingham buildings

Plans to convert a row of historic Nottingham buildings into 24 apartments have been submitted to the City Council.

Mabec wants to turn the buildings at 112-128 Derby Road and 181-195 Wollaton Street into 18 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom flats. The developer also plans to convert two ground floor shop units in the Grade II listed building into entrance halls for the apartments.

Mabec says that it is aware of local businesses which want to move into some of the vacant ground floor units.

A planning statement reads: “Investment in a neglected property within the Canning
Circus conservation area will prevent further degeneration of the area and the grade II listed property.

“In a location predominantly of residential and commercial uses, the conversion and refurbishment to provide residential apartments will provide a positive addition
to the vibrancy of the area. It will introduce activity during times where it would otherwise not be present, especially at night.”
