Notts County owner reveals plans to expand golfing empire

The owner of the Nottinghamshire golf club, Alan Hardy, has revealed plans to expand his golfing empire.

Speaking to TheBusinessDesk.com at MIPIM in Cannes, Hardy, who also owns Paragon Interiors and Notts County,  said that he is in talks to buy courses in Swindon and Portugal.

The news comes as the Nottinghamshire is expanding. The club’s hotel is set to add another 16 rooms to take it up to 30 bedrooms, while the restaurant is also set to become bigger.

Hardy said: “Phase 1 of the hotel has been a success and we’re up to 90% occupancy within the first 12 months. There’s been great demand from people who want to go to a hospitality venue and play golf, and our course is now in fantastic condition.

“We’re now spending £1.5m on the second phase of the expansion, which is due for completion on 31 May.

“I’m also looking at buying a course in Swindon, and one in Portugal.”

Hardy said that he wants to create a “family” of courses, whereby if you’re a member at the one course, you’ll automatically become a member of all in the group.
