Nottingham city centre delays likely after Canal Street lane closure

One lane of Canal Street in Nottingham, heading towards London Road, will be closed until this afternoon (Monday 19 March), with the City Council saying delays are likely.

Off peak lane closures had been in place recently as contractors build a new road in the area as part of the preparatory works for the forthcoming Nottingham College development on Canal Street. However, the work to connect the water pipe will require a longer lane closure, into the peak hours of Monday morning.

As a result, says the Council, it is likely there will be delays on Collin Street and Middle Hill for traffic travelling on to Canal Street heading towards London Road this morning.

A statement from the Council read: “Nottingham City Council and Severn Trent Water apologise for any inconvenience caused and would advise drivers to allow extra time for travelling on Monday morning in the area.”
