Nottingham gateway scheme could play ‘pivotal’ role in regeneration of city

How the new residential development would look

More details have emerged on the planned £50m combined PRS and student accommodation scheme in Nottingham city centre.

As we reported back in February, CERT Property, a Manchester-based developer has submitted plans for 177 residential apartments for PRS and 420 student beds is situated on a vacant brownfield site on Crocus street near the city’s railway station.

Designed by Stephenson Studio, the scheme incorporates two ‘U’ shaped blocks ranging from four to eight storeys and benefits from generous internal landscaping.

Howard Lord, managing director of CERT, said: “Nottingham is a city that is full of potential and our proposed scheme will play a pivotal role in the ongoing regeneration of this area. Its strategic location as a gateway site to the city meant that it was important that we created an impressive landmark scheme that would set a new standard for the city. With its exceptional design and landscaped public realm areas, we believe that this scheme will make a fantastic addition to the future of city living in Nottingham.”

Roger Stephenson OBE of Stephenson Studio added: “We have respected the importance of the historical past of the Meadows in both the architectural language that once existed there, and with the landscape proposals for the internal courtyard and what was the Crocus filled common land from the River Trent up to the city boundaries the site locates within. We hope our proposal will be the catalyst for further high quality developments to re-stich the southern regeneration area of Nottingham back to its city parts.”
