York food and drink company to open Nottingham restaurant

Yorkshire-based food and drink company Filmore & Union is set to open a restaurant on the first floor of John Lewis at intu Victoria Centre in Nottingham.

With 60 covers and open for breakfast, coffee and cake and lunch, this will be the third within a John Lewis store following the opening of the John Lewis York restaurant in June 2017 and the John Lewis Newcastle restaurant in February.

Filmore & Union now has 17 restaurants and take out delis across Yorkshire and the North East and the new John Lewis Nottingham store will be the first to open in the Midlands.

Filmore & Union founder and owner Adele Ashley said: “After spending the last six years establishing ourselves in Yorkshire and the North East as the ‘go to’ destination for healthy, wholesome, delicious food that doesn’t exclude anyone with special dietary requirements, we’re now looking for unsung foodie capitals across the UK to bring our ‘feel good’ brand to.

“Nottingham and the East Midlands in general was the next obvious move for us. The region’s independent food and drink scene is seriously on the up and we want to be part of it! Our aim is to build a nationwide chain which retains its independent feel with each restaurant having a strong local supply chain, embedded into its local community. Our chilled out, relaxed atmosphere with premium, cosy interiors and high quality food fits perfectly within the John Lewis brand and we can’t wait to see what new local customers think.”

Lewis Evenden, head of branch at John Lewis Nottingham, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Filmore & Union into our shop and to be part of their expansion. We are sure our customers in Nottingham will love their fresh and wholesome food and we are delighted to be the first place in our region to serve it.”
