Leicestershire marketing agency quashes ‘distressing’ rumours of founder’s death

A Leicestershire marketing agency has moved to quash rumours of the death of its founder – and that the company has ceased trading.

The Ideal Marketing Company, based in Market Harborough, says that “distressing” rumours have been circulating the local business community that Alastair Campbell, who suffered a heart attack last June, had passed away. The company says these rumours are untrue, and have had a “damaging impact” on it business performance.

Ideal says Campbell’s wife Helen has stepped into the role of managing director this month after he suffered a cardiac arrest at the compan’sy Market Harborough offices last year which has left him unable to return to work.

Alistair Campbell is well known in the Market Harborough business community after setting up networking groups the Business Agenda and the Harborough branch of Working Breakfast, as well as chairing the Chamber of Commerce in 2017. He set up the Ideal Marketing Company in 2003 with Helen taking the role of head of PR.

“Obviously it has been a difficult few months for the company, but we have emerged stronger than ever, recording our highest turnover ever in the company’s history during the first quarter of 2018,” said Helen.

She added: “We have a talented and experienced team offering a full range of marketing services and we are building on and expanding the work carried out by Alastair and our staff over the last 15 years.

“Since Alastair’s illness in June, we have not only continued to offer the usual high standards of service to our clients, but we have expanded our team and grown the business – even in the face of adversity.”

The Ideal Marketing Company started out as a home-based operation and has now grown into a high street business employing eight people. The company offers digital marketing, website development, PR, SEO, social media and design.

“Although I’ve been with the company from the beginning, I’m looking forward to implementing my own ideas into the business,” added Helen. “We aim to continue growing and to make 2018 the year that we celebrate our highest turnover ever as well as marking 15 years as a successful business.”
