Nottingham city centre mixed-use building sold

James McArthur, Andrew Stredder of Brooklyn WS and Jonathon Seddon

A prominent mixed-use building in Nottingham city centre has been sold in a deal brokered by NG Chartered Surveyors.

Acting on behalf of Project Ferry (No.2), Jonathon Seddon, director at NG, has sold the 6,015 sq ft Granby House on Friar Lane to Brooklyn (WS) Ltd.

Project Ferry originally bought the property in 2003 and has converted and refurbished the offices from what was Burton & Burton Solicitors into smaller office suites now leased to Blue Arrow Recruitment and the Heritage Memorial Fund.

Seddom said: “Friar Lane is fast-becoming home to a range of fantastic independent businesses, and I’m delighted that the new owner has asked us to market a vacant shop unit in the building, so we’re now actively seeking another independent business looking to relocate into one of Nottingham’s most vibrant streets.

“The previous managing agent, who’d been doing a great job, chose the sale as the appropriate time to step away from the property, so I was also delighted when the new owner asked if NG could take over the management of the property. We were pleased to do so, particularly as we have built a good relationship with all of the tenants. My co-director, James McArthur, will be working closely with the Brooklyn (WS) over coming months.”

Neil Wild director Project Ferry (No.2) said “It is with mixed feelings that we sold a building such as this, but we know the new owner will continue the positive relationship with the tenants. We are grateful to NG Chartered Surveyors for their assistance during the sale process.”

Gabriel Strauss of Brooklyn (WS) said: “Granby House is a prominent building on the corner of Maid Marion Way and Friar Lane – a part of town that is changing with more independent businesses, residential accommodation on Maid Marian Way, and will be on a main access route from the Market Square to the Castle which is going to undergo a major redevelopment.

“We will be refurbishing both internal communal areas and external shopfronts and providing improved signage for tenants. We’re also looking for a new tenant for one of the units.

“I’d like to thank Jonathon and look forward to working with James going forward. Working with NG is, as always, positive both from an investment, lettings and management point of view.”

Vik Moothia of Austin Moore acted for the Brooklyn (WS) on the deal.
