HQ of collapsed rail firm sold for £700,000

A Derbyshire industrial unit which was left empty after the collapse of a rail engineering firm has been sold by agents Charterfields for £700,000.

The 20,200 sq ft unit, which sits on a 1.8-acre plot within the Cotes Park Industrial Estate, Alfreton was acquired by Smiths Pallets, which is currently based in another unit on the estate.

The property was previously occupied by Rowlescourt Engineering, a long-established rail engineering firm which closed in November with the loss of 35 jobs. Insolvency specialists Wilson Field appointed Charterfields to sell the property and assets.

Ian Maycock of Charterfields says: “It is good to see that the building has found a new owner and will once again be put to good use as a place of employment. The property attracted keen interest from buyers which demonstrates that, despite the challenging market, there is strong demand for high-quality commercial units.”
