Marathon effort from Impero as they aim to help ‘Beat’ eating disorders

A team from Impero Software, the remote monitoring and management software EdTech specialist, has raised £650 for eating disorders charity Beat.

Nine Impero employees took part in the Business Team Challenge of the Derby 10k run with an aim to help raise funds and awareness of this important cause which affects so many young people in the UK today.

Beat is the UK’s leading charity supporting anyone affected by eating disorders. With an estimated 1.25 million people suffering from eating disorders in the UK, Beat support eating disorder sufferers and their families to give them the help and care they need for a full recovery.

Beat is also one of Impero’s key online safety partners, working with them for the last 5 years to continually develop, improve and refine Impero’s keyword detection library based on the issue of eating disorders.

The keyword detection functionality available in their flagship solution, Impero Education Pro, scans for any instances of keywords, terms, phrases, abbreviations or acronyms that may indicate potential risk; screen captures or video recordings of any flagged activity, along with a glossary definition, help staff to put the incident into context in line with the student’s wider online and offline behaviour.

Nikki Annison, CMO at Impero said; “We are really proud to be able do to our small part to help raise funds for Beat. They play a key role in ensuring our software is as accurate, sensitive and up to date as possible and, more importantly, they are making a huge difference to young people across the UK. The £650 raised will help Beat run their helpline services for just over half a day – if this helps just one sufferer it’ll make all the running and donating worth it.”
