Derby City Council names new chief exec

Derby City Council has named Carole Mills as its new chief executive.

Mills is currently the chief executive of Milton Keynes Council which she joined in 2014 and over the last 16 years has held roles at councils including Walsall and Nottingham City.

She said: “I’m delighted to be joining Derby City Council at such an exciting time. Derby is growing with a strong economy and ambitious plans for the future. I’m very much looking forward to working with councillors, colleagues, partners, businesses and the community to ensure those plans come to fruition and to deliver excellent services for our citizens, local communities and businesses.”

Christine Durrant will continue as acting chief executive until Mills arrives in the summer.
