On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Jonathan Wheeler with Rachael McConaghie

Leicester law firm Spearing Waite has appointed Rachael McConaghie as a partner and head of its real estate dispute resolution team.

She was previously head of property litigation at Sherrards Solicitors, which has offices in London and St Albans. Prior to joining Sherrards in 2006, she was at BP Collins in Gerrard’s Cross.

McConaghie said: “I knew I wanted to be part of such an ambitious and progressive firm with an excellent client base. I immediately felt at home with Spearing Waite and the firm’s friendly and inclusive culture.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team to further grow our property litigation offering.”

Spearing Waite managing partner Jonathan Wheeler said: “It is a pleasure to welcome Rachael to our growing team. Her experience and client skills are first rate and I am certain she will make an excellent addition to the Spearing Waite partnership.

“We are dedicated to growing the real estate dispute resolution team and Rachael is the right person to lead this. She is an established and very talented litigator and shares the Spearing Waite focus on securing an early and successful resolution for our real estate clients.

“Rachael will be supported by associate Hannah Carter, and we will be looking to make further hires into the team as our real estate client base grows and develops.”

Carol Hart

Two senior politicians and a high-profile figure in the building industry have joined the board of enterprise agency Erewash Partnership.

The new directors are councillors Carol Hart and Tony King and Ian Hodgkinson, director of builders Hodgkinson based at Pride Park, Derby, who started his business in Ilkeston.

In May last year councillor Hart became the first female leader of Erewash Borough Council taking over from councillor Chris Corbett who had stepped down after 10 years and is now deputy mayor.

Ian Viles, Partnership chief executive, said: “The board is delighted to have welcomed three new high-calibre directors. They bring a wide variety of top-level experience coupled with strong local knowledge and a passion for helping the Partnership deliver regeneration and enterprise projects.”
