First tenants sign up for £70m logistics park

How Symmetry Park will look

A fast food drive-thru and a coach-builder have signed deals to take space at db symmetry’s Symmetry Park at Junction 34 A1(M), on the border of North Notts and South Yorkshire.

The deals follow planning consent granted by Bassetlaw District Council for a branded fast food restaurant, coffee shop and Irizar coach showroom at the motorway entrance to the 54-acre logistics site.

Located on the North Nottinghamshire/West Yorkshire border, Symmetry Park, is a £70m industrial and distribution scheme being delivered by db symmetry. The company has committed to deliver up to 721,000 sq ft of logistics space and is already well underway with the first phase of speculative development to provide a 150,000 sq ft unit due to complete in July 2018.

Euro Garages has agreed to buy around one acre to build a coffee shop and fast food drive through facility. Irizar UK, the sole British supplier of Irizar’s integral coaches, has acquired a four-acre site which will house its new showroom.

Marshalls Construction, which is building the speculative unit, will undertake infrastructure works including the installation of full site services and a roundabout to the entrance of the site so that Euro Garages and Irizar UK can progress delivery soon.

Freddie Oakey, associate development Director at db symmetry, said: “This is a defining moment in the creation of Symmetry Park. Euro Garages and Irizar UK have both recognised the huge potential of this site in terms of its proximity to the A1, size and scale and committed to the site.”

Cllr Jo White, Cabinet Member for Regeneration at Bassetlaw District Council, said: “This is extremely encouraging news for Bassetlaw and North Nottinghamshire. Db symmetry’s commitment to the scheme will continue to generate further inward investment for the area and create jobs for the surrounding communities.”

Sarah Lucas, head of acquisitions UK Property at Euro Garages, said: “We are extremely pleased to see the planning approval of this site forthcoming and our proposed food and coffee offer will complement the proposed development in the wider area as well as passing motorists”.

Steve O’Neill, director at Irizar UK, said, “Irizar UK are really pleased to have committed to the land purchase at Symmetry Park. The location is perfect for us being so close to the A1 with great road connections to the North, South and Northwest. We look forward to starting the build of our £5m showroom and support facilities to sell and support our products for the UK.”

The project team for the structure includes planners Lichfields; architect Kilmartin Plowman & Partners; Engineers Shepherd Gilmour; Infrastructure Couch Perry & Wilkes; project manager & QS Goodrich Consulting and environmental consultancy Penny Anderson Associates.

Colliers International advised Irizar.
