Prominent Nottingham employment lawyer joins gunnercooke as partner

One of Nottingham’s most prominent employment lawyers has joined gunnercooke as partner.

Emma Tegerdine has moved to gunnercooke after three years at Cleggs Solicitors.

Tegerdine trained at Freeths in Nottingham, before specialising in employment law at Geldards in Nottingham upon qualification. After that she worked as a senior lecturer at Nottingham Law School teaching employment law, business law and EU law on the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course for nine years, before she returned to private practice at the beginning of 2011 working for Massers, Austin Moore and then Cleggs.

Speaking to TheBusinessDesk.com, Tegerdine said: “I was attracted to gunnercooke by the flexibility to be able to manage my own time, whilst providing the best possible service to my clients, free from the constraints of timesheets and billing targets. gunnercooke has a brilliant reputation, and all the gunnercooke partners I spoke to before I decided to make the move were delighted with how it had worked out for them. There were a number of options open to me, however in the end I was so impressed with what gunnercooke had to offer, that I didn’t even need to speak to anyone else.”

Most of Tegerdine’s clients are owner-managed SMEs in the East Midlands area, however she also has clients in London and in other parts of the UK.

On what she will bring to her new role, Tegerdine told us: “I am an experienced employment lawyer with a strong academic background, however I think my greatest strengths are my commercial, down-to-earth style, my approachability, and my willingness to take the time to understand my clients’ businesses and what they need from me. I am very good at solving clients’ problems.”
