Mental Health Awareness Week sees launch of new Impero mental health keyword library

Impero Software, the remote monitoring and management software EdTech specialist, has launched a new mental health keyword library as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Mental Health Awareness Week (14th-20th May 2018), is run annually by the Mental Health Foundation, aiming to raise awareness of mental health and the many factors that contribute to negative mental health. This year’s theme is stress and poses the question ‘Are we coping?’

Impero has partnered with the registered charity No Panic and others to develop its new mental health keyword library, whilst adding valuable keywords and phrases to its existing suicide and self-harm libraries.

Impero Education Pro’s keyword libraries monitor devices on school networks to capture and log instances of safeguarding risk to provide the context. School staff are alerted to this flagged activity and are empowered to discuss safeguarding concerns, offer counter narratives and intervene before an incident escalates.

Nikki Annison, CMO at Impero Software, said: “Our new keyword library covers mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, OCD, insomnia, bipolar and more and aims to protect students by alerting members of school staff to these issues of concern.

“Young people are coping with multiple stress triggers at any given point; whether it’s online pressures, upcoming exams or problems within their family, stress can soon get on top of them, leaving them to feel like there is no way out. We are delighted to be working with No Panic whose advice and assistance with the creation of our new keyword library has been invaluable.”

Mark Rees, No Panic ambassador, added: “No Panic has worked with Impero Software on its mental health, self-harm and suicide keyword libraries. Our partnership is invaluable, as it will help many young people have access to a safer learning environment and contribute to young people receiving mental health support sooner. No Panic’s aim is to help all people receive the help they need for anxiety disorders, when they need it, and our partnership helps us to achieve our aim by early detection.”
