Two East Mids companies named in UK’s creative top 50

TriForce Creative Network

Two East Midlands companies have made Creative England’s annual list of the top 50 companies and individuals in the film and TV, gaming and digital media industries.

YouTeachMe (Derby) and TriForce Creative Network (Southwell, Nottinghamshire) have made the CE50 2018.

TriForce Creative Network works to provide opportunities within the creative industries, championing diverse writers, directors, producers, crew and actors. TriForce’s programmes are recognised by industry leaders as a valuable way to discover and nurture upcoming talent, which will help to grow the industries and provide a much-needed entry for diverse and original talent to make their mark on England’s creative industries. TriForce has also set up TriForce Productions to create TV, film and online content, with a focus on diverse content for mainstream audiences.

YouTeachMe is the brainchild of Derby-based Paul Rose, a former primary school head teacher. Paul has used his first-hand experience to create an innovative video platform where teachers can share content on specific elements of the curriculum. As well as creating a platform with meaningful benefits to schools, Paul has developed a sister product, YouTeachMeToo, for home schooled pupils and looked after children.

Caroline Norbury, chief executive of Creative England, said: “The people and businesses featured in this year’s CE50 are at the very forefront of creativity. Through their work – be it games, film or TV productions, interactive platforms or immersive experiences – they produce the original ideas, the entertaining content and the innovations which make this country truly world-leading in the creative industries.

“According to the Department for Digital, Media, Culture and Sport (DCMS), the UK creative sector contributes £92 billion to the UK economy, yet despite the fact that the creative industries are growing more rapidly than other sectors in 9 out of every 10 locations in the UK, they still struggle to get finance.

“Creative England exists to fill the access to finance gap and continues to provide a combination of tailored investment and support to help creative businesses develop new business models, deliver products and services and take risks on innovation.”
