New images released of £33m Derby swimming complex

Derby’s new swimming pool complex at Moorways is on time and on budget, according to the leader of the City Council, which has released new images of the scheme.

The new facility will include a 50m ten lane pool, learner pool, leisure water, sauna & steam, gym, exercise studios, soft play and multi-use rooms.

Part one of the New Swimming Pool Complex project was completed on budget, according to Derby City Council, which says that the second phase of the work, including developing outline designs, demolition and site preparations such as survey work, securing £33m funding, obtaining planning consent and selecting a preferred construction contractor, is also underway.

Councillor Baggy Shanker, the cabinet member responsible for the New Swimming Pool Complex project, said: “I’m very happy with how we have progressed this project, which is on time and on budget. The feedback we have had from people has been very positive and I’m confident that we are on track to deliver a pool in 2020 which residents and visitors will love. This is a key project that will make Derby an even greater place to live, work and visit.”
on set to start this summer with the facility scheduled to open to the public in 2020.

New pictures of the scheme also show a gym.

The scheme is being headed up project managers MACE, FaulknerBrowns Architects and preferred construction contractor Bowmer and Kirkland.
