A Leicester tax advisory firm has revealed to TheBusinessDesk.com that it wants to create 20 new jobs in the city over the next three years.

Obsidian Tax, which focuses on strategic tax planning for businesses and high net worth individuals, says it is finding demand for its tax advisory services “exceptionally high”.

The company was set up in December 2016 by directors Faisal Sattar and Tom Moore who has worked for PwC, Haines Watts and Grant Thornton during his career. The pair are now ready to launch three new concepts – Obsidian Nexus, Obsidian Black and Tax Space – to the market.

Sattar told us: “Whilst we fully support our governments initiative for tax simplification, clients and advisors are finding tax law to be ever more complicated. Our ability to supply falls far short of market demand and we have had to expand rapidly to meet this need.

“We have a five-year expansion plan that will allow us to provide a national specialist tax advisory team to assist accountants, lawyers, financial advisers and their respective clients. There is a real shortage of specialist tax advisory firms in the market and we hope to bridge this gap.”

Obsidian employs 10 people in Leicester, but Sattar and Moore are already looking build on that number.

Sattar said: “We have just signed contracts with another senior chartered tax advisor with 30 years’ experience in this sector. Our expansion plans allow for a team of 30 within the next three years.”

Obsidian Tax is based on New Sreet in Leicester.
