Some 30 jobs are to be created at the first venue in the UK to offer a fully licensed, cocktail bar and escape rooms under one roof.

Spirits Bar on Hotel Street in Leicester will officially open on 15 June. The venue has also partnered up with its neighbour and restaurant franchise Oscar & Rosie’s to offer pizza to visitors.

Spirits Bar and Escape Asylum are being launched by the current owners of Escape Asylum on St Martins Square; Dan Walford, and brother and sister Selina and Grant Topp.

Escape Asylum will provide four new escape games that will be available for visitors including King Richard, Phobia and Narcos themed rooms.

Walford said: “We opened the first ever escape room in Leicester two years ago, and after the success of our first Escape Asylum, we were keen to introduce further sites and expand on our offering. The facility combines a high-end cocktail bar with several escape rooms – something that hasn’t been done anywhere else in the UK so we are excited to be offering this concept to the local community.

“We are pleased to be investing further into this stunning and up and coming city. Leicester has a very creative and historic background and we hope that Spirits Bar and Escape Asylum will compliment that. We have some cool new escape rooms on offer and we can’t wait to showcase this project of ours to the public.

“I’d like to thank Fraser Brown Solicitors who helped us obtain the lease for the premises, without them our expansion plans and vision wouldn’t have become a reality.”

The owners aim to open a further three escape rooms and bar branches, similar to this one, by the end of 2019 across the UK.

Liam Wilkinson, associate in the commercial property team at Fraser Brown, helped to secure the lease of the property.

He said: “This concept is an exciting new addition to Leicester, and I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to work on it with the owners.

“The bar looks incredible inside and I love the weird and wonderful escape rooms. I’m sure, judging by the success of their first escape rooms, that this will be extremely popular and will encourage more visitors to the city. I’d like to wish them all the best of luck in this new business venture.”
