Rolls-Royce boss named as one of UK’s most popular CEOs

Warren East

Warren East, the chief executive of Derby-based Rolls-Royce, has been named the 16th best CEO to work for in the UK.

The Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards are based on the input of employees who voluntarily provide anonymous feedback by completing a company review about their CEO’s leadership, along with insight into their job, work environment and employer over the past year.

East joins the top 50 CEOs in a list compiled by Glassdoor. Some 96% of employees approved of East, say the rankings, with some of the benefits of working at the manufacturer listed as “good benefits, pioneering technology and many opportunities”. However, reviews on Glassdoor also included “current uncertainty” as one of the downsides of working at the company.

Among the more than 770,000 employers reviewed on Glassdoor, the average CEO approval rating is 69 percent.

Richard Flint, CEO of Sky Betting & Gaming topped the list, with a 99% approval rating.

The news comes amid tough times for Rolls-Royce employees. The firm said last week that it wil cut 4,600 jobs in the UK, with its Derby plant likely to be worst hit.

East said: “It is never an easy decision to reduce our workforce, but we must create a commercial organisation that is as world-leading as our technologies. To do this we are fundamentally changing how we work.”
