Logged off: Simon Browning, UHY Hacker Young

Simon Browning

Simon Browning, partner in charge of the Nottingham office at national accountancy firm UHY Hacker Young, on how he winds down at the weekend.

How do you relax at the weekend?
I always go for a run, before spending time with my family on either days out or relaxing at home.

How many hours do you work at the weekend on average?
Probably less than one hour. I may catch up on emails if I’ve had a week full of meetings, otherwise I try and switch off to fully recharge the batteries for the week ahead.

What is your favourite…
– Holiday? South Africa – I love being in the wilderness on safari and there are some amazing sights all over such a vast country.

– Book? I’m not a big reader and would choose autobiographies over fiction. The Chimp Paradox by Professor Steve Peters is worth a read for anyone wanting to improve their mind management.

– Album? George Ezra’s latest album Staying at Tamara’s has some great songs.

– TV programme? With a busy work and family life, I really don’t have much time to watch TV. I do enjoy Taskmaster for its simplicity and humour – I thoroughly recommend it as I’m amazed how few people have seen it.

– Food? Chinese.

– Website or app? My go-to place is the BBC for all things sport and news related.

How do you usually spend your Sunday evenings?
It’s one of the few occasions when my wife and I might manage to watch TV or a film.
