Major refurbishment planned for prominent Nottingham pub

The new operator has big plans for the pub

A prominent Grade II listed public house in Nottingham city centre is set to reopen after a major refurbishment programme.

The Fellows Morton & Clayton on Canal Street has had a recent chequered history, and is currently closed.

How, however, the Bermondsey Pub Co wants to reopen the pub after extensive refurbishment.

The property was built in 1895 and the warehouse converted in the late 20th century in to a public house.

The proposed refurbishment includes the installation of new timber and carpet flooring alongside repairs to existing floor finishes. New traditional timber screens are to be installed and finished to match existing joinery with minor joinery revisions to the bar back fitting required.

New internal lighting is to be provided to existing lighting points within the trade area, toilets and back of house areas.

A planning statement reads: “The historical context and appearance of the heritage facades will be maintained and improved with the works proposed. The redecoration of all external joinery work and window frames will not detract from the architectural significance of the building and improve the street scene.”

Bermondsey Pub Co is owned by Ei, the largest pub operator in the UK.
