Sports presenter named as vice-chair of Magpies

Notts County have appointed BBC and BT Sport presenter Darren Fletcher as vice-chairman.

Fletcher is one of the original members of the Board created by chairman Alan Hardy when he took control of the club 18 months ago.

Hardy said: “Darren has done an excellent job for us since being appointed to the board. His new position will include a special remit and responsibility to oversee the football department of the club, complementing the football operations department, which will continue to be led by the Football Operations Director.

“It’s no secret that we have had to undergo a total overhaul of our football structure from top to bottom since my arrival.

“We have made huge progress across all levels in addition to the senior men’s squad with significant investment and development in our Academy, junior and girls programmes.

“Darren has a huge wealth of contacts and knowledge across football at all levels and he will continue to be a huge asset to the club.”

Fletcher said: “I am delighted to have been offered the vice chairmanship and I will do everything possible to help Alan, Kevin Nolan and Academy Director Jon Goodman bring sustained success to the club.

“We have had a wonderful ride so far in our first 18 months and the best is undoubtedly yet to come.”

As well as his Notts role, Fletcher is lead commentator for BT Sport and a presenter with BBC Sport.
