A local charity has been given a funding boost after independent networking group Nottingham Professional Services (NPS) donated over £1,500 to their cause from the proceeds of its annual summer ball.

Established in 2001, Nottinghamshire Community Foundation (NCF) is an independent charity, set up to encourage philanthropy for the benefit of the people in Nottinghamshire.

Its approach allows individuals and businesses to support their own specific local interests and causes and in doing so invest in the future of their community.

They do this by acting as a ‘broker’ between people who care about their local community and the wide range of voluntary organisations, community groups and local charities who do the hands-on work.

NPS raised the funds from the proceeds of its annual summer ball which this year was themed around the football World Cup.

The event, held at Notts County FC’s Meadow Lane ground, saw over 150 guests from the Nottinghamshire professional services sector arrive in a colourful variety of national dress to match the teams bidding for football glory out in Russia.

Speaking ahead of their first summer squash tournament to be held todat (Friday 6 July) at Nottingham Squash Club, Kate Hennig, NPS chair, said: “The entire committee is absolutely thrilled to have raised these funds for a fantastic cause. They work in partnership with so many different people who either want to support good causes or who need access to these services. It is a unique approach which is all about connecting people and directly supports the Nottinghamshire community which chimes perfectly with what NPS Is all about.”
