A46 closed in both directions after syrup spillage

The A46 is closed in both directions due to an overturned vehicle and spillage near Lincoln.

The road is expected to remain closed to facilitate the large recovery and clean-up operation. A sugar syrup solution has been spilt on the carriageway.

Traffic is diverted in both directions.

Northbound: From the A46 Brownhills junction, take the first exit onto the A1 and head north for 21.7 km. At the Markham Moor junction, take the A57 exit heading east for 25 km and rejoin the A46 at the Carholme Roundabout, Lincoln.

Southbound: The opposite of the above route.

Highways England says motorists are advised to allow additional travelling time or consider alternative routes if possible.
