Ursula Lidbetter MBE, chair of the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership, has welcomed the groundbreaking Greater Grimsby Town Deal which she says will regenerate the historic Lincolnshire town.

Lidbetter was present when the deal was signed last week by Local Growth Minister Jake Berry MP and Business Minister Lord Henley.

More than 8,800 new jobs and nearly 10,000 new homes will be delivered in Greater Grimsby thanks to the £67 million deal which the Greater Grimsby Project Board has struck with the Government.

The deal will give Grimsby major investment to improve key roads and establish Enterprise Zones.

Already, Ørsted, which is building the UK’s largest operations base for offshore wind at Grimsby’s Royal Dock, is creating 350 jobs for local people.

“This is a welcome boost for Greater Grimsby and I applaud the efforts of everyone who has worked hard to secure this deal,” said Lidbetter.

“To achieve this investment a strong partnership has been formed between business, local government and national government which is excellent to see.

“Grimsby and the South Humber Bank has an important part to play in our evolving industrial strategy and the Greater Lincolnshire LEP will continue to work hard with our partners to ensure its future success.”
