Boost for East Mids gin lovers as festival returns to Derbyshire

Morley Hayes will welcome beer and gin lovers this August

Gin lovers who have been left disappointed after a company which organises festivals fell into administration have been given a boost with the news that Derbyshire leisure complex Morley Hayes is again hosting its annual Beer and Gin Festival
over the August Bank Holiday.

The eight-day Beer and Gin Festival is taking place in the Old Stables Bar, a stylishly refurbished barn at the complex on Main Road in Morley, from Thursday 23 to Thursday 30 August, with live music on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August.

Beer enthusiasts will be able to sample beers and ciders that Derbyshire and the nearby areas have to offer, and gin lovers will be treated to a range of forty gins from across the globe, including several from local distilleries in Nottingham, Leicestershire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire.

Andrew Allsop, managing director of Morley Hayes, said: “Our first Beer and Gin Festival was staged in May after two hugely popular Beer Festivals in 2017, which were attended by hundreds of people and received fantastic feedback.

“We were very lucky with the weather in May and hope the hot spell stays with us right through to the August Bank Holiday.

“The Morley Hayes complex is conveniently located on the H1 and Y1 bus routes, so it’s the perfect excuse to leave the car at home and enjoy a drink or two in a relaxing setting.”

The news comes after insolvency practitioners from Begbies Traynor were earlier this month appointed as administrators to Gin Festival Limited, which was trading as GinFestival.com. The stricken company cancelled gin festivals in Leicester and Lincoln.
