East Midlands Airport warns passengers of delays to check-ins

East Midlands Airport is warning passengers of road closures on the M1 over coming weeks as it prepares itself for its busiest time of the year.

Roadworks on the M1, combined with the Airport upgrading its check-in systems means that passengers could face delays. Some airline have extended their check-in opening hours to try and combat and backlog.

A statement from East Midlands Airport said: “We would like to notify all passengers travelling in the coming weeks, that there are a number of upgrades happening at the airport, and surrounding road closures to consider when departing.

“We are currently in the process of upgrading our check-in systems due to new regulations, which may cause minor disruption.Please also consider M1 and surrounding airport roads being upgraded and closed for certain periods of time daily between 21:00-06:00.

TUI, Thomas Cook Airlines UK, Jet2.com & Jet2holidays have all extended their check-ins to three hours before departure time, while Ryanair, Flybe, bmi regional and Aurigny.com have extended their to 2.5 hours.
