Nottingham city centre pub to open with major revamp

The new operator has big plans for the pub

A major refurbishment programme is set to re-open a prominent Nottingham city centre pub after the City Council have the green light for the project.

The Fellows Morton & Clayton on Canal Street has had a recent chequered history, and is currently closed.

How, however, the Bermondsey Pub Co will now reopen the pub after extensive refurbishment.

The property was built in 1895 and the warehouse converted in the late 20th century in to a public house.

The refurbishment will include the installation of new timber and carpet flooring alongside repairs to existing floor finishes. New traditional timber screens are to be installed and finished to match existing joinery with minor joinery revisions to the bar back fitting required.

New internal lighting is to be provided to existing lighting points within the trade area, toilets and back of house areas.

A planning statement reads: “The historical context and appearance of the heritage facades will be maintained and improved with the works proposed. The redecoration of all external joinery work and window frames will not detract from the architectural significance of the building and improve the street scene.”

Bermondsey Pub Co is owned by Ei, the largest pub operator in the UK.
