Notts County owner says Club has invested heavily to achieve promotion

Notts County chairman Alan Hardy has said “a lot of money” has been invested in the Club this pre-season, as the Magpies prepare for their first game of the season this Saturday.

In a pre-season message to supports, club owner Hardy, said County are “better prepared and have invested substantially” in order to achieve promotion to League 1.

He added: “We’ve invested significantly in new players – small change by Premier League standards, but significant by our own.

“Throughout my business life and during my time as custodian here at Meadow Lane, I have liked to get on the front foot and make things happen. Patience is not a virtue I have been blessed with.

“I want to restore the playing fortunes of the world’s oldest Football League club – and I want to do it sooner rather than later.”

Notts County finished fifth in League 2 last season, and lost their play-off semi-final to Coventry City, who were eventually promoted. They play Colchester United in their opening game of the season on Saturday.
