Record footfall for Nottingham leisure complex

The Cornerhouse - busier than ever

Nottingham leisure venue The Cornerhouse has reported record footfall for the first six months of 2018.

The data which is collected from people entering The Cornerhouse and visiting both Trinity Square and Forman street measured an increase of approximately 400,000 customers for January to June compared to last year and an overall increase from March to June for the previous two years.

The new Avengers: Infinity War movie saw Cineworld experience its busiest ever day on Saturday 28 April, with over 7,000 customers and 27,000 visitors for the first week of May, despite the hot weather. This surge in filmgoers consequently lofted The Cornerhouse centre’s April footfall by 2.2 per cent compared to 2017.

Charlie Truman, centre executive at The Cornerhouse, said: “These figures are excellent. Great movies, weather and the World Cup have all been big contributing factors to the numbers. Traffic on Forman Street peaked in March and has remained consistently high ever since, which is great news for us and also for the industry as a whole amidst reports of the high street struggling.
“Al fresco dinners and drinks in the sunshine have all been enjoyed at The Cornerhouse, at venues like Nando’s, Revolution and Turtle Bay. Whilst Slug and Lettuce noted its ‘giant Pornstar Martini’s’ and pink gin cocktails have proved popular and helped drive people through the doors.”

The Cornerhouse has recently expanded it’s offering with two new bars. Former-boxer Carl Froch’s Alto launched this month, replacing the Rocket@Saltwater site, and new gin venue Ginsecco is set to open later in the year.
