Derby firm to create 10 jobs as it launches legal arm

Derby based, Sort, which specialises in providing access to legal and surveying services to the financial services intermediary sector, is set to create 10 jobs after launching its own law firm, Sort Legal.

Sort was formed in 2009. The four founding directors, all mortgage brokers, having become increasingly frustrated by the lack of conveyancing options, launched SortRefer as a resource for brokers looking for reliable conveyancing firms to provide a service to their mortgage clients. The business started to take off as they launched the service online and by 2017, the business had outgrown its Etwall offices and a move was made to self-contained offices at the Derby Conference Centre.

The firm now employs 48 people.

The move to the new offices then provided the extra space and perfect conditions for the launch of Sort Legal, Sort’s own in house law firm. Sort Legal is seeking new recruits to fill another ten vacancies and is holding an informal open day at their offices on Thursday 16th August.

Chief executive, Kevin Tunnicliffe, said: “We are keen to build on our success and with the market for specialist services to financial services professionals growing, Sort is keen to capitalise on the progress we have made to date. Our law firm, Sort Legal, is looking for new team members to help us in the next stage of the firm’s development and while previous experience is welcomed, what we are looking for are people who are keen to learn and be part of a team ethos.

“Sort will be launching into new areas over the next twelve months and we are always interested to hear from local people who feel they can match our ambition and are looking for a challenging and stimulating environment in which to work.”
