Some 20 jobs are set to be created in Nottingham after FHP Property Consultants and NG Chartered Surveyors brokered a deal to enable a delivery firm to expand.

Direct Express Logistics has moved into a 25,000 sq ft unit on Little Tennis Street in Colwick in Nottingham in a deal jointly delivered by Mark Tomlinson of FHP and Sunny Landa of NG on behalf of a private pension fund.

Direct Express Logistics began as a Sameday delivery service in 1997 with one vehicle and a simple vision. Over time the company has expanded organically and through acquisition and now has three sites strategically located in Doncaster, Nottingham and Stockport.

Gavin Taylor, commercial director of Direct Express said: “This is a part of strategy to expanded our offering to our customers. We are now agents for TPN (The Pallet Network) thanks to this relocation and this has created 15-20 extra jobs with a further new positions planned over the next 12 months. We are also using local suppliers and the local Renault dealer has supplied a brand new fleet for our current expansion.”

Mark Tomlinson of FHP said: “It is encouraging to see yet another occupier seeking to expand their operations within the city despite the stories of doom and gloom we seem to hear on an increasingly regular basis. Direct Express Logistics have bases in Yorkshire and the North West and Nottingham sits well for them strategically to serve the Midlands. I’m delighted that we could provide the property to meet their expansion requirements given the low supply of industrial property in the wider market.”

Sunny Landa of NG said: “Direct Express are a fast-growing company and it’s always satisfying to be able to work on a deal that will create jobs for Nottingham. Working in tandem with Mark, we quickly identified the right tenant for this high quality premises and it’s a win-win for both the landlord and the new tenant. We wish Direct Express all the very best in their growth plans for the future.”
