Jobs to be created as manufacturer onshores production to Derbyshire

The Marshall's Marquees and Gala Tent management team

Gala Tent, the South Yorkshire marquee manufacturer, is set to onshore its manufacturing after agreeing a deal with Marshall’s Marquees in South Normanton, Derbyshire, to manufacture and sell its own marquee linings.

The arrangement means that the Derbyshire factory will manufacture the linings exclusively for Gala Tent.

Marshall’s Marquees plans to create a number of new jobs in the next 12 months as the new venture starts to take off. Gala Tent is expecting to generate an additional £350,000 of business in the next 12 months, with a 30% increase year on year for the following three years.

Jason Mace, managing director of Gala Tent, said: “This is great news both for our business and for our customers. We will be able to fulfil orders for marquee linings more quickly and the customer will be able to have much greater choice. Not only will we be supplying to marquee and gazebo customers but also to hotels, pubs, sports halls, hotels and the event and marquee hire industry.”

Jenny Marshall, managing director of Marshall’s Marquees, said: “With our experience in the events industry, we have a great insight into what the customer is looking for from their linings. This is an exciting new venture that we expect will create jobs and growth for both businesses. There is demand in the industry for good quality linings that can be delivered within a short timeframe and we are looking to fill that gap in the market.”

Founded in 1999, Gala Tent now sells over 15,000 tents and marquees each year, along with around 90,000 event accessories and furniture products in the UK.
