Leicester tech hub ‘gaining momentum’ says city business chief

Kevin Harris

The Leicester office partner of RSM and chair of the Leicester and Leicestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) has welcomed the announcement from Communities Secretary and Midlands Engine Champion James Brokenshire MP of new investment in the Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park.

As we reported last Friday, software company, The Access Group, will be expanding its headquarters and moving in to a new 100,000 sq. ft. office on the Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park (LUSEP).

The Access Group has 15,000 customers and develops a range of business software for clients including Leicester City Football Club, Cineworld, Itsu, Burts Crisps and Domino’s Pizza

The venture has been made possible thanks to a partnership between Leicestershire County Council and Loughborough University.

Kevin Harris, RSM office managing partner and chair of the LLEP said: “Earlier this year, Tech Nation published a report which found that Leicester had experienced the biggest increase in new digital technology firms of any UK city in the last decade.

“With major players like The Access Group investing heavily in the region, this momentum is building. The city now has an excellent infrastructure and support network for ambitious tech businesses. This should help attract even greater numbers of established firms and start-ups in the future.”
