Eighty homes to be built in Worksop

Consulting engineer Howard Ward Associates (HWA) has announced that works are underway for the new residential development of 80 homes on Shireoaks Road, Worksop.

Developed on the site of a former tool-making factory, the Shireoaks Road scheme will feature a mixture of detached and terraced housing ranging from two to four-bed homes, including affordable housing. Nine apartments will also be constructed alongside open space communal areas, all centred around a pond.

HWA has been involved with the project since 2015, providing a range of services including structural engineering design, transport planning, ground investigation, drainage strategy, utilities assessment, geo-environmental consulting, civil engineering design and adoptable highway design. HWA also designed a sustainable drainage system in line with the site’s amenity and ecology strategies.

To date, designs have been completed for all of the adoptable highways and drainage, together with the detailed design of individual plots and house types for approximately half of the site.

Phase one of the development is expected to complete early next year with the full project expected to finish at the end of 2019.

Giles Ward, senior partner at HWA, said: “We’ve been involved with the Shireoaks Road scheme since the pre-planning stages, so it’s very exciting to see the development progressing.

“The scheme will provide stunning yet affordable housing to the area and we’re happy that we can provide our services to help bring such a wonderful development to life.”

Irwin Project Management is managing the project, which is being delivered by Walker & Sons (Hauliers).

Richard Irwin, project manager at Irwin Project Management, said: “Walker Homes is excited to be able to deliver a major residential housing development in Worksop. HWA have made the complete engineering design process simple to integrate into the overall development design brief that we have been working to and it’s been a pleasure working on the scheme with them and Walker & Sons.”
